The Harvesters Soup Kitchen was established July 8, 2017 and since then, it has been 6.5 years in operation now (November 2022).
Through these years, we have established many connections with the City, like Green Market, Morgiewicz Farms, Rescuing Leftover Cuisine, Subway Sandwich Restaurant (in the past), Big Apple Meat Market, Santo Bruklin Restaurant (in the past), Proper Food (in the past), and the Fruit Stand 43rd St. They gave us discounted pricing for food, or all just pure donation, without any charges for those years. They have supported us with their love, and still continue to do so.
Starting from the Covid-19 crisis, 3/2020, our entire city was facing lockdown and not many businesses were open. The streets were so empty. However, our soup kitchen was able to go through that period of time and stayed open to provide soup and meals to the needy in our neighborhood.
In the operation of our soup kitchen, from purchasing the supplies, picking up and storing fresh vegetables, cleaning, cooking, packing and delivering to serve the neighborhoods, we were able to deliver over 9500 cups of soup along with the meals/sandwiches during these 2 years of the pandemic. In total, over these past 6.5 years, we have had about 17,550 cups of soups made and delivered with meals.
With God’s grace and blessing, we have been able to make it through. We are so appreciative of all the support from the Church, Volunteers, Donors, Administrators and other Charities. Without each one of them, we couldn’t make it. We give thanks and praise to the Lord and hope that this ministry will continue for many years to come.
